2007 Fall Sports Schedules Released

The 2007 season opens August 31.

The Neumann College athletic department has released the athletic schedules for its Fall 2007 sports, including field hockey, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and volleyball.

The Knights' men's soccer team will open its 2007 campaign at the Muhlenberg Tournament where they will face off against Muhlenberg and Moravian on August 31 and September 1. The Knights are entering their second season under the direction of head coach Kevin Sloan. They will play their home opener on September 8 against King's College at 1 p.m.

The Knights' women's soccer team will begin play on September 1, 2007 at the Swarthmore Kick Classic, hosted by Swarthmore College. They will host Widener University in their season home opener on September 5. The women are beginning their tenth season of competition and fourth under Head Coach Lisa Benvenuto.  

Neumann's volleyball program will also open its 2007 season on Saturday, September 1. The Knights will take part in the 23rd Annual Haverford College Tournament, hosted by Haverford College. 2005 and 2006 PAC Coach of the Year Deana Jespersen, will look to build on last year's 21-15 team (9-2 PAC) when they open play at 10:30 a.m. on the 1st.

The Knights field hockey team will travel to Canton, New York for the 2007 St. Lawrence Field Hockey Fest. Neumann will open their season against Utica College on neutral ground on September 1. The Field Hockey team is in its 11th year and will be entering its second-year under Neumann alumnus, Sarah Madrak.

Women's tennis will begin their season at home on Thursday, August 30 against DeSales University. Last year, the Knights experienced their most successful season ever, under third-year head coach Christian Gosseaux. Neumann finished the 2006-2007 campaign 9-7 overall and 8-3 in the PAC.
