The Sportsmanship Award is given to the student-athlete who embodies the Spirit of St. Francis and Clare. While each team selects an individual winner at the end of their respective seasons, this award honors the individual or individuals who best display the attributes of sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship and academic integrity in their athletic, academic and life pursuits as an active member of the campus community both in and out of season. "Katie is the first to volunteer for every service opportunity. She is the "go to" member of the softball team when a teammate needs help. She has invested herself in our surrounding community throughout her four years at Kletzel, who becomes the first two-time recipient of the award, was the College's 2006 honoree. She is also a two-time St. Francis and Clare award winner and the teams most improved player for 2007 earning a career best 11-2 record on the mound this season. Kletzel, a senior sport management major, is a four-year team captain and an integral part of the Neumann Knights women's softball team. The |
