Neumann College's Whetts and Patrick Earn PAC Weekly Honors

Brittany Whetts (Philadelphia, Pa. /Bartram)

Dec. 11, 2006

Neumann College freshman Brittany Whetts and men's basketball guard Derahn Patrick have earned weekly honors from the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Whetts, a 5-10 shooting guard out of Philadelphia, Pa., was voted Pennsylvania Athletic Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week. This is the second consecutive honor for Whetts this season.

Whetts averaged 20.7 points, 10.3 rebounds while adding six steals, three blocks and three assists in the Knights' 3-0 (1-0 PAC) week.  She scored a career high 42 points in 42 minutes, shooting 82% (22-27) from the free throw line in the Knights' overtime victory against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham. The Bartram High School graduate was also a key component in the Knights' 67-58 win over Arcadia University and a 64-51 win over King's College earlier in the week.

Whetts' 42-point effort against FDU-Florham finished just three points shy of Neumann College's single game scoring record set by Celeste Rogers in 1998.

The women's basketball team at Neumann has won its last eight games and is currently 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They return to the court on December 19th at home against vs. Saint Mary's College of Maryland. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.

Men's Basketball standout Derahn Patrick was named to the PAC Player of the Week Honor Roll for the week ending December 10. Patrick averaged 20.0 points for the Knights in a 2-2 (1-1 PAC) week.  He recorded 15-three point field goals this week and was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the Messiah Invitational.

The Neumann Knights men's basketball team is currently 6-3 on the season and will face off against Division-II Shippensburg University on December 22 at 7:00 p.m. in Aston, Pa.
