Neumann Overturns Widener 9-6.

ASTON, PA - The Knights Baseball Team recorded their 4th win of the season against the Pioneers of Widener University on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the non-conference foe 9-6.

 

After two innings of play the score was fixed at 2-2 in the second inning. Widener took the lead scoring one run in the 3rd and one run in the 4th to make it a 4-2 ball game. Neumann came back in the 5th inning scoring 3 runs to Widener's 1 behind two consecutive doubles by James Jordan and Ryan Nason. The Knights grabbed the bats and finished off the Pioneers in the 6th inning receiving hits from Steve Maloney, James Jordan and Kevin Ahern. Ahern's double in the bottom of the 6th scored the Knights final three runs of the afternoon proving to be all the Knights would need to defeat the Pioneers for the first time in program history.

 

The Knights were led by Kevin Ahern who was 2-2 with a run a run scored, and 3 RBI's. James Jordan went 4-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's. Nick Lapetina and Bob Marchese each had 2 strikeouts on the mound for Neumann, giving the Knights their first win in five meetings with Widnener University.

 

The Knights' next ball game will be Wednesday, March 29th when they will host the Fords of Haverford College in a non-conference match-up at 3:00pm.
