Neumann Falls 4-3 in PAC Play

Scranton, Pa. - Neumann College faced the Pacers of Marywood University at Connell Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In the Knights' fourth conference match up of the season, Neumann took an early 2-0 lead over the Pacers but couldn't hold on falling to their host 4-3.

 

Kevin Ahern scored the Knights' first run of the day after hitting a sacrifice fly in the first inning to score Dave Dragone and give Neumann a 1-0 lead. The Knights went up 2-0 after Joseph Slater singled to right field scoring Brian Chesnick who hit a double to start things off for the Knights in the second inning.

 

Neumann's defense was able to keep the Pacers at bay throughout the first three innings. However, the Pacers found their bats in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs on three hits to take a 3-2 lead over the Knights. Neumann managed to tie the game at 3 after Chesnick stepped up once again with a left field single that scored Marc Torriero in the top of the 6th to make it a 3-3 ball game.

 

After a scoreless seventh and eighth inning Neumann came to the plate in the ninth looking to gain a lead on the Pacers. However, the Knights unable to pull away from their hosts and the Pacers were able to capitalize in the bottom of the ninth to take the win 4-3.
