Baseball Falls to Centenary

April 26, 2008

Aston, Pa. -

The Knights dropped both games of their doubleheader today against the Centenary College Cyclones on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell in game one 7-6 and fell to the score of 13-3 in game two. Before the game the Knights honored two seniors Ryan Nason and Dave Dragone for their years at Neumann College.

In game one, the Knights opened up a 4-1 lead in bottom of the second inning when Steve Marucci hit a RBI single followed by a Rob Guriano single that sent two runners across the plate giving the Knights an early lead.

The Cyclones would storm back in top of the fourth inning scoring four runs to take a 6-4 lead. George Hatton would hit a RBI single and Lincoln Schrock would score on a pass ball as the Knights would tie the score 6-6 in the bottom on the fifth.

Centenary would retake the lead in the top of the sixth on a RBI triple by Mark DeMaio to take a 7-6 lead over the Knights. Neumann could not score another run as they fell to the same score.

In game two, the Knights fell behind early 4-0 but got two back in the second inning. The first run came on a Steve Marucci double and then Sean Quigley brought home Marcucci to make it 4-2. The Cyclones though added two more runs in the third inning to open up a four run lead 6-2.

Jared Grant would hit a homerun for the Cyclones to open up an 8-2 lead. The Knights could not keep pace with the Cyclones as they went on to win game two 13-3. The Knights will look to finish their season playing at Swarthmore College, Monday with the game starting at 4:00 PM.
