Neumann Falls to Widener 16-2

March 13, 2008

Aston, PA- The Neumann College Baseball team fell to Widener University 16-2 in a non-conference match-up.  Widener's pitcher Jerry Benedict kept a no hitter going until the sixth inning until Lincoln Schrock hit a single.  Widener's bats were just as good as their pitching as they hit three homeruns on the day.

Mike Villari got the scoring started in the third inning when he hit a solo shot for the Pride giving them a 1-0 lead.  Widener would continue their hot bats as Alex Neiman hit a home run in fourth inning building 4-0 lead.

Then in the sixth and seventh innings Widener put up 6 runs in each inning building a 16-1 lead at the end of the seventh inning. Mike Cahill hit a homerun for Widener in the seventh inning for the Pride.  The Knights lone run in the inning came from a Ryan Nason RBI.  The other run for the Knights came from Keith Mastronardo when he hit a double in the eighth inning.

The Knights look to rebound Saturday against DeSales University with a double header match up starting at 12:00 PM.
