Swiggetts' defense helps Neumann win.

Neumann Outscores Arcadia 60 - 49 in Conference Matchup.

Jan. 25, 2007

Aston, Pa. - On January 25 at 7:00, Neumann College (10-7, 7-3) defeated Arcadia University (6-11, 4-6) 60 - 49 in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game in the Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, Pa.

Neumann started off the half quickly taking advantage of the open seams.  James Swiggett scored the first 4 points in the first 1:30 of play and also played some good defense that converted into Neumann points.  In the first 10:00 of the half Neumann was playing hard and causing turnovers on the defensive end of the court.

Towards the middle of the first half Arcadia started to make a come back scoring 4 points on free throws and a 3-pointer to make the score 20-17 Neumann.  The remaining minutes was a turnover battle with both teams showing some signs of fatigue as the first half came to end.  With the final seconds winding down Derahn Patrick made a nice move driving to the hole scoring 2 at the end of the first half making the score 27-20 Neumann.

The start of the second half Neumann came out strong, especially James Swiggett who was all over the court.  Swiggett caused a turnover after Arcadia inbounded the ball, which turned into a nice give and go between Nasheed Linton and Ronnie Fields for 2 immediate points.

Ronnie Fields (21 points) also carried a hot hand scoring 11 points in the first 10:00 of the second half.  After the 10:00 mark Arcadia once again started to make a come back due to costly Neumann fouls, but Neumann held their ground keeping the Acardia Knights at ease.  James Swiggett (8 points, 7 boards) showed spectacular defense when needed keeping the Knights on top.

Neumann Will return to action on Saturday in a PAC double header with Wesley College. The men will tip off at 3:00 p.m.
