Aston, Pa - Neumann College (12-12, 9-8) lost to Cabrini College (5-19, 4-13) in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match up on February 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, Pa.

 

The Knights showed good team effort in the first half of play in the conference match up, keeping the Cavaliers behind in the half.  Eli Hitchens played good in the first 10:00 of the half getting rebounds and hitting a three to ignite the Knights offense.  Eli also had a huge block to which would have helped the Cavaliers narrow the lead.  DJ Fritz, Jalon Bransford, and Derahn Patrick also contributed hitting clutch three pointers to help the Knights expand their lead.

 

Ronnie Fields was all over the court causing turnovers for the Knights.  With 4:25 on the clock Mike Hitchens drained a field goal after crossing up the Cavaliers defender.  After the Cavs in-bounded the ball Hitchens was there for steal who dropped in a lay-up and was fouled.  After making his free throw Hitchens scored 5 points in the matter of 15 seconds giving the Knights a 12 point lead.  Leon Dales had a monsterous slam dunk getting the team pumped up.  At the end of the half the Knights were on top 31-24.

 

The second half was more exiciting than the first.  Cabrini was nipping on the back of the Knights heals all half.  Derahn Patrick was hot scoring consecutive baskets keeping the Knights afloat.  But that was not enough to stop the Cavaliers from coming back.

 

The final two minutes both teams were battling back and fourth until Cabrini took the lead and kept the Knights from taking it back.  Derahn Patricks' 15 points and DJ Fritz's 13 points was not enough as the Cabrini Cavaliers upset the Neumann Knights with final score of 63 - 61.

 

Before the game started, Derahn Patrick was reward for scoring his 1000th point on Saturday afternoon against Misercordia.

 

The Knights' next game will be on February 15 in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match up against Immaculata University at 8:00 p.m. at the Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, Pa.
