DJ Fritz (Cheltenham, Md. /MacNamara) Named Wyndham Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Neumann and Stitzel Record First Win of the Season

Nov. 20, 2006

Box Score

Reading Pa. - The Neumann Knights men's basketball team recorded their first win under the guidance of new Head Coach Corey Stitzel. With a 68-62 win over Adrian College in the consolation game of the Wyndham Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Albright College, the Knights ended their first week of play under Stitzel 1-1.

Neumann opened the scoring with a lay up by DJ Fritz followed by a shot good for two from Derahn Patrick. Neumann and Adrian battled back and forth throughout the first half tying the game seven times before the Knights took their largest lead, in the final three minutes of play, when DJ Fritz landed a three-point basket to give the Knights a 29-24 lead that would last for the remainder of the half. Freshman newcomer Nashedd Linton assisted on the play.

Neumann quickly extend their lead to 13 in the opening minutes of the second half behind baskets from Ronnie Fields (4), Nashedd Linton (4), DJ Fritz (2) and Eli Hitchens (2). Adrian continued to fight, closing the gap on the Knights lead 64-62; however, Neumann's Derahn Patrick would not let them get any closer. The junior guard went to the line for the Knights and scored two. He then forced a turnover, grabbed the steal and converted the play into a final two points in Neumann's favor. The Knight ended the game up 68-62.

Neumann will return to action on Tuesday, November 11 at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
