Knights Outscored by the Profs 101-89

Dec. 5, 2007

Box Score

ASTON, Pa.  - In a non-conference game at Rowan University Wednesday night the Neumann College Knights found themselves down 18-points in the first 4-minutes of play and were unable to recover falling 101-89 to the Profs in men's basketball action.

Neumann made several attempts to get on the board in the opening minutes of play but were road blocked by the Profs who forced 12 turnovers and converted for 19 points in the first 20-minutes of play.

Rowan put up its largest lead of the night with just under five minutes remaining in the half after a Dan Redden 3-pointer and a Michael Farrow layup put the Profs up 44-17.  Neumann attempted to make a run late in the final moments of the half behind the efforts of Na'Sheed Linton (Trenton, NJ/Solebury Prep) who shot for 7 points, Marquise Boggs (Conshohocken, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) who had four and Chris Canty (Springdale, Md. /Bishop McNamara) who added a bucket just before the half ended.

Neumann continued to battle in the second half going on a seven point run to cut the deficit to 15 points (67-52) with 8:54 left to play. Derahn Patrick (Chester, Pa. /Chester High School) made a three-pointer, forward Thomas Davis (New York, NY/Our Savior) connected on two free throws and Boggs had one.  The Knights continued to chip away at the Profs' lead and came within 11 behind two 3-point baskets by Benjamin Whitt (Philadelphia, Pa. /Communication Tech) and a layup by Mike Hitchens (Ardsley, Pa. /Abington).  Unfortunately, that is as close as the Knights would come as Rowan went on to win the game 101-89.

Neumann will be back in action on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when they will be hosted by NCAA Division II Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pa.
