Senior guard Derahn Patrick was named Offensive MVP
Men's Basketball Celebrates Season

May 27, 2008

Aston, Pa. -- The Neumann College Men's Basketball Team announced its team award winners for the 2007-08 season at the program's annual banquet in March.

Senior guard Derahn Patrick and sophomore guard Nasheed Linton shared the Most Valuable Player award, as a total of seven Knights were recognized during the banquet.

Patrick was named Offensive MVP, while Linton took home Defensive MVP honors. Patrick, a Chester, PA native, averaged 16.8 points per game and was also honored as a conference second team selection, while Nasheed Linton was among the Knights' top leaders in rebounds, steals and assists.

Marquise Boggs earned Freshman of the Year accolades and DJ Fritz was honored with the Unsung Hero Award.  Boggs led all freshmen in scoring, rebounding and assists, while team captain DJ Fritz led the Knights to an 8-8 PAC Conference finish.

Eli Hitchens nabbed the 2008 Coach's Award, while senior center James Swigget and team manager Tom Dillard were honored with the Knights' highest honor, the St. Francis and Clare Award.  This award is bestowed on those individuals who made the most significant contributions to the well-being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement and leadership - both on and off the court.

The evening concluded with a special congratulations and good luck to seniors DJ Fritz, Derahn Patrick, and James Swiggett, all of whom graduated from Neumann in May with jobs in their respective majors.
