Dennis Williams begins his second season as head coach of the Neumann Knights in 2005-06. The Bowling Green State University alum became the second coach in the 6-year history of Knight Hockey on July 15, 2004.
In his first year at the helm, the Knights had their lowest penalty-minutes for the season, as well as their best year in power-play (14%) and penalty kill (80%) within the program's history. Also, the Knights were able to capture their first conference victory in school history. In the classroom, the 2004-05 hockey team compiled a team GPA of 2.98.
A graduate of and four-year letterman at forward for Bowling Green State University, Coach Williams earned both his Bachelors in Sport Management and Masters in Marketing Education from BGSU. During his collegiate hockey career (1997-01) Williams earned the 2001 Howard Brown's Coaches Award. This award recognizes a player's excellence both on and off the ice. Williams also helped guide the Bowling Green State University Falcons to the 2001 CCHA Final Four in his senior year. Williams coaching experience began in the fall of 2002 when he joined the BGSU Falcons coaching staff as a graduate assistant in the CCHA Conference under Head Coach Scott Paluch.
A native of Stratford, Ontario, Williams' skill and success on the ice started at a very young age. Coach Williams was a member of the 1994-1995 Sutherland Cup Jr. B Championship Team and in 1995 Williams played on the International Under-17 Team Ontario, which won the gold medal at the International Hockey Tournament-World Championship in Moncton, New Brunswick. His experience also includes a professional career in the Central Hockey League as a forward for the Odessa Jackalopes.
Prior to coming to Neumann, Dennis Williams spent the 2003-04 season as an Assistant Coach under ECAC West rival Head Coach, Gary Heenan where he was a key component in player recruitment, academic success and strength and conditioning.
