Jan. 19, 2008

BOX SCORE

Aston, Pa. -  Neumann scored four goals in the first seven minutes of play to propel them past nationally Ranked No. 6 Hobart College, 4-2, at Ice Works Arena.  The Knights had four different players score goals in route to the win and their special teams provided the spark that lifted the Knights to their ninth consecutive win.

The Knights outshot the Statesmen 21 to 8 in the first period and jumped out to a quick lead in the first few minutes of play. Dayne Bihn got the scoring started just 54-second into the game. Sean Cryer made it 2-0 when he slipped the puck past it Hobart's goaltender Keith Longo at 4:20.  Eleven minutes later the Knights' Stewart Sjoberg scored right off the face to give Neumann a 3-0 lead.

Mike Hedden provided the Knights with their fourth and final goal of the night at 6:11 giving the team a 4-0 lead going into the first intermission.

Hobart got on the board midway through the second period on a delayed penalty call closing the gap on the Knights. The Knights went back to work defensively and ended the middle set, 4-1.

During the third period, the Knights' penalty kill stepped up as they had to kill a couple of penalties early and they succeeded.  However, Hobart got their second goal late in the game when Ryan Adler ripped the puck into the back of the net making it a 4-2 game.

The Statesmen pulled their goalie in the final 1:09 but could not find another goal giving the Knights a 4-2 victory and their ninth consecutive of the season.
