Trimm Leads Knights to Victory, 3-1

Oct. 20, 2007

BOX SCORE:

Aston, Pa- All American Neil Trimm scored the first hat trick of the season for the Knights propelling them past SUNY Geneseo 3-1.

The Knights special teams played a vital role in the victory scoring the game winning goals while on the power play and not allowing a goal on the penalty kill.  The Knights scored their goals in the first two periods and played great defense throughout the game.

Mike Collichio came up big in net early on in the first period as Geneseo came out firing recording ten shots in the period.  The Knights offense gave Collichio some help late in the period when Neil Trimm skated through the zone untouched and went high on the Geneseo goalkeeper glove side giving them a 1-0 lead.  Mike Hedden and Kyle Casey both notched assists on the goal.

The Knights capitalized once again in the opening stages of the second period giving them a 2-0 lead.  Neil Trimm notched his second goal of the game and 50th of his career, with assists from Matt Ward and Jesse Cole.  Collichio continued to play well robbing Phil Rose of a great single effort play midway through the period.  The Knights struck again at the 19:35 mark, when Jesse Cole and Matt Ward hooked up to find Neil Trimm who scored the first hat trick of the season and gave the Knights a 3-0 at the end of the period.

Geneseo scored the first goal of the third period when Andrew Rygiel zipped a high shot past Collichio trimming the lead to 3-1.  The Knights defense held strong and did not allow a goal the rest of the period giving Neumann their second win of the season.

The weekend sweep marks a perfect start for the Knights. Neumann will look to keep their streak alive when Adrian College comes to town for a weekend series starting Friday at 7:00 PM.
