Aston, Pa. -- The Neumann Knights set the tone for the match in the first period by out-skating the Flying Dutchmen early on. Stewart Sjoberg started off the scoring 3:34 into the game with a behind the net pass from Jesse Cole. Sjoberg delivered it over the Flying Dutchmen's Aaron Miller's right shoulder giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. Ryan Heickert was also credited with an assist on the play. The Knights doubled their lead midway through the first period on a two-on-one break as Kyle Casey passed the puck circle to circle to Michael Hedden who slotted it home 10:41 into the period, giving Neumann a 2-0 advantage. Neumann responded with three unanswered goals. Hedden started it off when he slipped the puck by Miller at 4:39, with assists from Casey and Neil Trimm. The second goal came from Casey, who put one high over the goaltender's right side for a 4-1 lead. The final goal of the period came from Hedden, who completed his hat trick, after he deflected a Mark Van Vliet shot on a two man advantage. Mark Van Vliet scored two of the Knights' final three goals in an 11-minute span of time. Van Vliet's goals were split by an Erik Stoyanvich goal at the 11:43 mark giving the Knights the 8-2 final. Michael Hedden, Kyle Casey and Neil Trimm ended the night with 4-points each while Mark Van Vliet scored two goals and added an assist in the 8-2 win.
