Two-thousand seven graduate, Brett Leonhardt, a former goal tender of the Neumann College Men's Ice Hockey team and current employee with the Washington Capitals, took the morning skate with the team Tuesday. Olie Kolzig, the team's usual net minder, missed the Capital's morning practice and Leonhardt was allowed to strap on the pads. From the Washington Post, "With Kolzig skipping the morning skate, Caps media staffer Brett Leonhardt, an Ontario native and former college goaltender at Neumann College, took shots in practice. The highlight of his day -- and perhaps life -- was a nice glove save on Ovechkin." Leonhardt has worked for the Capitals as their website producer for the past few months. The team was short on goalies for practice on Tuesday and Brett's boss mentioned to the coaching staff that he played as a keeper in college. "It was quite an experience," stated the Neumann '07 grad. "I've been with the Capitals for the past two months and I would not have been able to get this job without the help of Neumann, Leigh Martini (Neumann's Sports Information Director) and the communications department."
