May 3, 2007

Aston, Pa.  - The Neumann College men's ice hockey team along with All-Americans Neil Trimm of Westmeath, ONT., and Mike Hedden of St. Catherines, ONT., were declared Division III statistical champions by Kevin Buerge, who is an NCAA statistics assistant, in an e-mail to Athletic Director Chuck Sack on Thursday.

Neil Trimm led the nation scoring 18 goals, 49 assists, and 67 points in the 2006 - 2007 season.  He averaged 2-points a game and as a result has been named the 2006-2007 NCAA statistical champion for points per game and assists per game.

Sophomore Mike Hedden led the nation in goals per game (1.19) and power play goals (19) this season. He finished his sophomore campaign with 31 goals and 21 assists, totaling 52 points. Hedden has been recognized as the statistical champion for goals per game and power play goals. He also closed out the season ranked No. 3 in points behind Trimm.

Neumann completed the best season in program history with a 17-5-5 record. Its power-play has been ranked No.1 in the nation with a 0.291 power-play percentage. The Knights, as a team, have been named the 2006-2007 Statistical Champions in that category.

"These are FANTASTIC accomplishments," stated Athletic Director Chuck Sack. "We are very proud and appreciate all of the great work and recognition this team has brought to Neumann College."
