Men's Ice Hockey's Michael Hedden and Mike Collichio Earn ECAC Men's West Weekly Honors

Dec. 12, 2007

ASTON, Pa. -- Neumann College's Michael Hedden and Mike Collichio were named ECAC Men's West Player and Co-Goalie of the Week respectively, as announced by the league's office on Tuesday night.

Hedden earned the honor for the second consecutive week while Collichio received his first nod of the season.

Neumann forward Michael Hedden was named the ECAC Men's West Player of the Week after tallying three goals on Friday night against SUNY Fredonia in a 6-3 win and three goals again on Saturday against SUNY Fredonia in a 7-2 win.

Hedden scored the first goal of the weekend just five minutes into Friday's game and scored a second time in the second period on a power-play for the game winner. He scored his third and final goal of the night in the 15th minute of the third period.

He repeated his efforts on Saturday night scoring two goals in the second period and adding a third just before time expired in the final minutes of the game. With that, the junior from St. Catherines, Ontario recorded his fourth consecutive hat trick of the season.

Hedden has become the first player in Neumann history to record four consecutive hat-tricks in a season. He is also at the top of his game on the national level, as he currently leads the nation in goal scoring with 19.

Senior Mike Collichio has four times been named the ECAC West Goalie of the Week and was named Goalie of the Year in 05-06. Collichio shares this week's honor with Adam Dekker of Utica College.

In his last seven starts Collichio is 7-1 with a 2.92 goal-against average and a .899 save percentage. He has helped the Knights secure a tie for third place in the ECAC West standings after a 3-3 start on the season.

Collichio stopped 34 shots in a 6-3 win on Friday and had 31 saves in a 7-2 win on Saturday against SUNY Fredonia.
