ASTON, Pa. -- Neumann College's Michael Hedden and Mike Collichio were named ECAC Men's West Player and Co-Goalie of the Week respectively, as announced by the league's office on Tuesday night. Hedden earned the honor for the second consecutive week while Collichio received his first nod of the season. Neumann forward Michael Hedden was named the ECAC Men's West Player of the Week after tallying three goals on Friday night against SUNY Fredonia in a 6-3 win and three goals again on Saturday against SUNY Fredonia in a 7-2 win.
He repeated his efforts on Saturday night scoring two goals in the second period and adding a third just before time expired in the final minutes of the game. With that, the junior from St. Catherines, Ontario recorded his fourth consecutive hat trick of the season. Hedden has become the first player in Neumann history to record four consecutive hat-tricks in a season. He is also at the top of his game on the national level, as he currently leads the nation in goal scoring with 19. Senior Mike Collichio has four times been named the ECAC West Goalie of the Week and was named Goalie of the Year in 05-06. Collichio shares this week's honor with Adam Dekker of Utica College. In his last seven starts Collichio is 7-1 with a 2.92 goal-against average and a .899 save percentage. He has helped the Knights secure a tie for third place in the ECAC West standings after a 3-3 start on the season. Collichio stopped 34 shots in a 6-3 win on Friday and had 31 saves in a 7-2 win on Saturday against SUNY Fredonia. For more information log on to the ECAC West by clicking GO KNIGHTS! ECAC Men's West Weekly Honors Player of the Week Mike Hedden, Neumann College Hedden tallied three goals on Friday night against SUNY Fredonia in a 6-3 win and three goals again on Saturday against SUNY Fredonia in a 7-2 win. The junior has now scored a hat trick in each of his last four games, and currently leads the nation in goal scoring with 19. Co-Goalie of the Week Mike Collichio, Neumann College Collichio notched two wins on the weekend over SUNY Fredonia. The senior made 34 saves in a 6-3 win on Friday and 31 saves in a 7-2 win on Saturday. Adam Dekker, Utica College Dekker, who stopped 12 shots, recorded his first shutout of the year and the sixth of his career as the Pioneers' rolled to a 2-0 victory over Geneseo. On the season, Dekker improved his record to 4-4. Rookie of the Week Nick Kulas, Utica College Kulas assisted on sophomore forward Aaron Jeffery's game-winner 2:12 into the second period as the Pioneers' skated to a 2-0 victory over Geneseo Friday night in front of 2,005 fans at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Kulas currently leads all freshman and ranks fourth on the team with six points on four goals and two assists this season. The rookie also ranks seventh in the conference in freshman scoring with six total points. Honor Roll Ryan Arnone, Elmira College Arnone netted three goals in a 1-0-1 weekend for the Soaring Eagles. In the 3-0 shutout victory over the Bears of SUNY Potsdam, Arnone sealed the victory for the Soaring Eagles, their eighth of the year, when he tallied a power-play goal late in the second period. In Saturday's 4-4 overtime draw with SUNY Brockport Arnone scored twice. The senior first broke the scoreless draw at 5:29 in the period on a power-play situation. After giving up three unanswered goals midway through the period, Arnone recharged the offense for EC by notching the last goal of the period at the 16:14 mark, once again on the power-play. Keith Longo, Hobart College Longo collected 33 saves against Potsdam to earn his fifth win of the year on Saturday. The junior ranks third in Division III with a .949 save percentage, and 14th with a 1.84 GAA. Aaron Jeffery, Utica College Jeffery netted two goals, giving him three on the year, in a 2-1 week for the Pioneers. The sophomore scored the opening goal and eventual game-winner in the Pioneers' 2-0 win over Geneseo Friday night. Jeffery also netted the opening goal of the Pioneers' 3-2 loss Saturday night, and now has four career goals and six points total this season. |
