Arnold, MD The Neumann College Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2008 season with a defeat against perennial ranked St. Mary's College 20-1. On a blistery and blustery the night at Broadneck High School in Arnold, MD, the Knight's were out executed by the Sea Hawks. Kyle Gardner scored the Knights lone goal by taking advantage of an extra man opportunity. Gardner gathered a loose ball on the lower left corner of the restraining box dodging an off balance Saint Mary's defender while using his upper body to protect his stick then riffling a sidearm shot past the Sea Gulls goalie. On the defensive side of the field, which featured five new starters from last season, were lead by Jake Boulay's 21 saves. After the game Neumann Head Coach Justin A. McKenna was quoted, "Games against perennially ranked teams, such as, St. Mary's show us were we aspire to be. We are an extremely young team and this game will be used as a teaching and learning experience for the future." The Neumann Men's lacrosse team will be back in action Saturday, March 1 verse Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA at 1pm. |
