The Neumann Knights fell prey to the University of Mary Washington Eagles team to a 13-3 on Saturday at the Battleground. Sophomore Kyle Sheckler and junior Bryan Capone each scored their first career goals in the contest. Sheckler scored his first career goal in the first period capitalizing on a feed from Kyle Gardner in the first period. The Knights struck again in the third period when Bryan Capone blazed down the left alley of the restraining nailing the top left corner of the Mary Washington goal from fifteen yards away. Kyle Sheckler closed out the Knights scoring with his second career goal. Sheckler's tally came with a brilliant catch at his ankles which lead to an underhanded shot from three yards out from the crease. Jake Boulay had another outstanding day in the net recording double digit saves again for the Knights. When asked about the game Head Coach Justin A. McKenna replied, "We are a young team and we must take the positives and build on each game. Our non-conference schedule helps us better ourselves for PAC play." Neumann will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to play nationally ranked Lynchburg College on Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 3:330 pm. |
