Knights Lose 8-7 to Shenandoah in Heartbreaker

Box Score

Winchester, VA - Neumann (2-6, 0-5 PAC) fell one goal short to Shenandoah (1-7, 1-3 PAC) who took advantage of man-up opportunities throughout the game on Saturday, April 8th.  Justin Ratcliff scored the game-winning goal midway through the fourth quarter for the Hornets to put them at 8-7 over the Knights.

 

The Hornets went up 3-0 in the first seven minutes of play until Ryan McCauley scored an unassisted goal to put Neumann on the scoreboard.  With 3:50 left in the first quarter, the Knights trailed the Hornets by one goal after Nate Eber scored Neumann's second goal of the game.

 

The Knights were able to tie it up with an unassisted goal in the second quarter from Brian Friel and then took their first lead of the game at 8:16 with a man-down goal from Eber.  After being tied at 3-3, both teams went one for one until it was tied up once again at 8:03 in the fourth when Nick Schall took a pass from Nick Lauletta to make it 7-7.

 

Although both teams went back and forth until the end, Neumann's penalty minutes proved to be a factor.  Shenandoah took advantage of a Neumann penalty when Justin Ratcliff put in the Hornets' eighth goal of the game at 6:23 in the fourth quarter on a man-up opportunity.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, April 19th when they will face off against Eastern University for a PAC match-up at 4:00pm in St. David's, Pennsylvania.
