ASTON, PA, -- The Neumann College Men's Soccer Team started the 07 season off on the right foot with a 3-1 victory over the Firebirds from the University of District of Columbia.  Kevin Sloan, Head Coach for Neumann College credited the team's chemistry on and off the field for today's victory.   Coach Sloan recognized the full team effort and seemed excited about the talent and new players on this year's team.

The Knights wasted no time taking the lead as senior Mike Barbagallo (Bridgeport, NJ/Kingsway Regional) found the back of the net 5:24 into the game.  The goal was assisted by Joe Avvento (Manalapan,NJ/Manalapan). It did not take long for the Firebirds to respond as Kendel Penny (Gasparillo, Trinidad) countered at 13:13 to knot the game at one.  However, with a little help from the post off a shot from Neumann Freshman Zach Sell (Baltimore, MD/Loyola Blakefield) the Knights scored what would prove to be the game winning goal at 24:16. The play was set up beautifully by Jesse Urquhart (Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) who fed Sell for the second goal.  Urquhart, a junior transfer shined in his debut as he gave Neumann some insurance with a goal off a penalty kick at 69:11.

Next up for the Knights, Neumann travels to McDaniel College on Wednesday, September 5, at 4:00 p.m.
