Knights Men's Soccer Plays the Mighty Macs to a Draw

Sept. 10, 2005

Box Score

Aston, PA. - The Neumann Knights men's soccer team hosted Immaculata University in front of a crowd of 123 on the Bruder Fields Saturday afternoon.

Neumann came together early, scoring in the 10th minute of the game. The Knights' John Tscherne controlled the ball out of the Mighty Macs defensive zone, past midfield and into the net for his second goal of the season. The Knights goal would stand through the rest of the first half, sending Neumann into the break up 1-0.

Neumann held the mighty Macs scoreless into the 57th minute of the contest. However, Immaculata's T.J Ulmer caught a lucky break at 57:13 when a direct kick was blocked to the ground on a diving save attempt by starting goalie Josh Williams. The ball was knocked just out of William's reach. Ulmer seized the opportunity and was able to put the ball in the net before Williams could get back on his feet. Though the Knights had ten shots on goal in the second half they were unable avoid extended play with this first year opponent ending regulation in a 1-1 draw.

The two teams battled back and forth for 2-10 minute over time periods. With both teams searching for their first win of the season, their defenses stepped up allowing no more than one shot on goal each in the 20 minute overtime.

The Knights return to action Wednesday, September 14, when they face Marywood University in Scranton, PA.
