Cory Grove, Allentown, Pa. (Parkland)

Knights Record First Win of the Season

ASTON, Pa. -The Neumann Knights (1-15) came out successful after a conference battle this afternoon with Marywood University (1-12), 3-0; Neumann's first win of the season.

Neumann demonstrated skillful play throughout the game, while creating several scoring opportunities, including a Barry Harvey (Aston, Pa.) shot that went just shy of the net, hitting the post in the first 10 minutes of play.

Although, Neumann aggressively controlled the ball in the first half, they were unable to gain the lead on the Pacers until the second half of play.

Scott Weaver of Neumann College sparked the scoring streak for the Knights, when he scored the first goal of the game at 57:02 in a scrum around the net, allowing his team to place the first goal on the board. Nine minutes following Weaver's goal, Neumann's Garrett Cumberland headed one into Marywood's net, off a chipped- ball from teammate Mike Barbagallo, giving his team a two goal lead on the Pacers.

The Knights concluded the event in style, with the third and final goal of the game coming off of a penalty kick for the Knights, with Barbagallo putting one past Marywood's Dan Reynolds.

In the rather aggressive event, Knight Freshman goal-keeper Cory Grove faced a total of five shots.

Neumann will travel to Chester, Pennsylvania to take on Widener University in a non-conference game this Wednesday, October 25th at 7:00 p.m.
