ASTON, PA-Neumann College men's soccer standout Barry Harvey was named as a Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Star by the Philadelphia-Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA). Harvey, a varsity athlete lettering in both men's soccer and men's tennis is also a three-time All-Conference (PAC) Academic Team honoree and a 2007 Men's Soccer St. Francis and Clare Award winner.
Majoring in Elementary Education, Harvey has had a stellar career as a Neumann Knight appearing in 71 soccer games and 70 tennis matches over the last four-years. On the soccer field, this Aston, Pennsylvania native recorded 34 points and ranks first all-time in career assists. On the tennis courts, Harvey won the 2007 and 2008 PAC Men's Tennis 6th Singles Individual Championship. In 2007, Harvey was named as the All-PAC Sportsmanship honoree and was announced earlier this week a first team, All-PAC selection for singles.
In order to be eligible for the All-Area team, an athlete must be of at least sophomore athletic standing, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or key reserve. Ballots for the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams, which sponsored seven teams this fall were compiled and voted upon by the 28 Philadelphia-Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).
