Neumann Closes Out the Season at the Fourth Annual Men's Soccer Banquet

Nov. 20, 2006

The Neumann College men's soccer team hosted its fourth annual banquet on Saturday, November 19, 2006.  Director of Athletics, Chuck Sack served as emcee of the banquet welcoming the team and their families. Opening remarks were given by Head Coach, Kevin Sloan before awards were presented.

At the banquet the coaching staff recognized the hard work and effort of every individual on the team. Each team member received a participation award for their year of service and dedication.  After recognizing each team member Coach Sloan awarded the team's individual awards.

Mike Barbagallo was named the 2006 MVP.  Mike was a strong presence on the field and helped lead the team from his defensive position. This year junior midfielder Matt Higgins was honored with the St. Francis and Clare Leadership award. The St. Francis and Clare award is given to an individual who most closely represents the values and mission of the College. The team also recognized the best offensive player, junior Barry Harvey and the best defensive player, senior Joe Fargnoli.

When the coaches finished giving the individual awards, they recognized 2006 tournament award winners Barry Harvey and Joe Fargnoli who were named to the FSU All-Tournament Team earlier in the season.

The final award of the night was given to Joe Fargnoli who was honored as the Knights' selection to the PAC-Push the Rock Sportsmanship Team.

At the end of the banquet senior comments were given before Chuck Sack closed the ceremony by saying thanks to the Knights, their fans and supporters.
