After being voted second to last in the 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference PAC coach's pre-season poll the Neumann Knights have thrown the PAC standings on their side after defeating 2005 PAC runner up, Arcadia University one week ago and earning a 2-0 record after dominating Alvernia College in a 7-0 conference sweep this afternoon.

The Neumann Knights men's tennis team (2-2, 2-0 PAC) won the conference match up Tuesday afternoon, posting a dominant 7-0 victory over the Crusaders. "This was a great win, I think we are going to surprise a lot of people this season," said Neumann head coach Christian Gosseaux."

In three hotly contested doubles matches Neumann came out with the win winning at #2 and #3 singles. Andrew Finger and Matthew Ford put up the first points on the board for the Knights at #2 doubles, defeating Mike Allega and David Schaffer 8-1. Teammates Robert Klenk and Steve Klenk at #3 secured the win in the doubles competition defeating Bill Garceau and Joe Stock 8-6 to put Neumann up 1-0.

Neumann continued its dominance on the court as singles rolled in. Andrew Bitar was the first off the court, earning his first win of the season at #5th singles 6-2, 6-3. Andrew Finger downed Tom Pierantozzi, who came into the match undefeated in the PAC  7-6 (8-6), 6-1 at #1 singles while John Slinka extended the Knights lead at #2 singles defeating Phil Snyder 6-3, 6-2. Wins from Robert Klenk at #4 and Barry Harvey at #6 rounded out the single sweep for the Knights giving them the 2-0 note in the PAC.

"Our guys went there with a tremendous amount of energy. Everyone was on their game today and it showed. It was really a statement win in our home opener. This team has a tremendous will to battle and fight and this was a great win for this team," stated Grosseaux. Neumann is set to host Gwynedd Mercy College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in their next PAC campaign.
