Aston, PA. - The Neumann Knights men's tennis team (5-6, 5-3PAC) locked up the third seed in the 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference regular season with a 7-0 win over Wesley College Tuesday afternoon in Aston, Pennsylvania. The three-seed positioning marks the highest seed in tennis history at Neumann.

"I am very proud of our guys," said Knights head coach Christian Gosseaux. "This is an incredible tribute to the hard work and dedication of this 2006 team. It is a great feeling to clinch such a high seed."

The Knights recorded their fourth 7-0 sweep of the season against the PAC rival from Dover, Delaware. After faltering 7-9 at # 1 doubles, Neumann fought back as Andrew Finger and Matthew Ford pulled out an 8-5 victory at #2 doubles followed by an 8-2 win at #3 doubles by Robert Klenk and Andrew Bitar, earning the Knights the doubles point.

Finger made it a 2-0 Neumann advantage with a 6-0, 6-7(7), 6-0 victory over Adrian Parker at the first singles spot. John Slinka extended the Knights edge to 3-0 as he cruised through his No. 2 singles match, posting a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ken Reilly setting up Ford for the match-clincher.

Soon after Ford assured the Knights of the win, senior Robert Klenk made it a 5-0 lead with his second straight win, downing Andrew Smyth at the fourth singles spot. Andrew Bitar toughed it out with Luke Meillio 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2 for the win at #5, and Barry Harvey capped the shutout effort with an 8-6 win over Dan Jones at the sixth slot.

Neumann will return to action tomorrow when they will travel to Collegeville, Pennsylvania for a non-conference match up with Ursinus College at 3:30 p.m.
