Knights Roll to Fifth Straight Win, 67-40

Jan. 17, 2008

Box Score

Aston, Pa. - The women's basketball team routed the Immaculata Mighty Macs, 67-40, on a snowy Wednesday night at the Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, Pa.  The Knights started off sluggish but picked it up behind freshman Krista DiRomualdo, who scored a career high 30 points and Dorothy Rozier who scored 8 points and added 12 rebounds.

"Krista is really coming into her own, stated Head Coach Frank Farnese. Both she and Dorothy played very well for us tonight and led us to the win. We are continuing to play well on both sides of the ball and I feel that is because we are continuing to play as a team."

The Knights did not look sharp early in the game as they fell behind 8-2 but battled back to tie the game at eight, behind the efforts of Katie Young, Brittany Whetts, DiRomualdo and Rozier, who led the Knights to a 10-9 lead midway through the first half and never looked back.

Neumann went on a number of runs in the first half building a 13-point lead with 3:53 left to play. Rozier and DiRomualdo provided the spark for the Knights, scoring 6 and 17 points respectively as the team went into halftime with a 35-23 lead.

The Knights carried their momentum from the first half into the second taking as much as a 29-point lead with 5:12 to play in the game.  The Knights did not give Immaculata any easy looks at the basket and on the other end; Neumann could not miss the basket shooting 44.8% in the second half.

DiRomualdo led all scorers with 30-points on the night which included 7 of 10 three's, just one shy of tying the Knights' game high set by alumnus Celeste Rogers in 1990. Brittany Whetts provided 11 rebounds and Coleen Healy added 8 points for the Knights, who ended the game with 67-40 victory at home.

"We started off slow but Dorothy and Krista helped us get into the grove of things.  We just won our fifth game in a row and hope to keep the momentum rolling." Frank Farnese stated after the game.

The Knights look to continue their winning ways Saturday at home against Misericordia with a 1:00 pm tip off time.
