Whetts 20 points lead the Knights to another Conference win.

Knights Defeat the Eagles 72 - 63.

Feb. 1, 2007

Aston, PA - The Neumann College Knights (15-5, 9-2) defeated the Eastern University Eagles (1-18, 0-11) 72 - 63 in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game at the Bruder Gymnasium on February 1, 2007.

Neumann College came out to a slow start falling down to a quick seven points early in the first three minutes of the contest but that did not prevent Neumann from losing their composer.  The Knights came right back answering quickly with 7 unanswered points led by Brittany Whetts tying the game at 7-7.

Following a timeout, the Knights responded with a 7-0 run to take a 20-13 lead, but the Eagles stayed in the game with their hustle and good passing that led to easy lay-ups.  Eastern College at half is led by Raya Shores with 13 points.  Neumann College at half was led by Brittany Whetts with 11 points.   Neumann at half-time found themselves up six points 36-30.

Neumann College looked like a different team in the second half.  The Knights came out firing with an attitude early and putting up a statement in the first three minutes of the second half claming a 43-35 lead.  However, Eastern responded with a small run of their own to cut the Neumann lead to three.  The two teams exchanged baskets for the majority of the second half; however, Neumann never lost control of their lead.

In the final two minutes Brittany Whetts (20 points, 9 rebounds), Kim Hinkle (10 assists) and Caitlin Agnew (9 points) closed the door with clutch free throw shooting to give the Knights a 72-63 victory.

The Knights are back in action on February 5th, 2007 when they take on Rosemont College in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game at 7:00 pm.
