Aston, Pa. - On February 15 at 6:00 p.m. Neumann College (17-8, 11-5) defeated Immaculata University (15-10, 10-6) in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match up at the Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, Pa.

 

Kim Hinkle and Lauren Johansen were recognized before the game as the Knights seniors.  Kim will graduate with a degree in Sports Management and Lauren will graduate with a degree in Education.  Hinkle has been accounted for 147 steals while teammate Lauren has added up 126 points.

 

The first half of play both teams were going back and forth until Immaculata started to jump ahead.  The Knight's were nipping at the Mighty Macs heals the whole half keeping the game within reach. 

 

The Knights were spreading the ball well all half, even though in the begging they couldn't buy a bucket.  On defense the Knights started to cause turnovers when needed forcing the Mighty Macs to make bad passes. 

 

Mary Beth Szczeny hit a long 3 to give the Knights the lead 30-28 with 3:15 left.  From there the Knights scored 4 more points which gave them enough to stay on top.  At the end of the half the Knights were on top 34-33.

 

In the final half of play the Knights looked like a different team especially on defense.  The Knights defense did everything they were supposed to, grabbing rebounds and forcing bad shots and bad passes for Immaculata. 

 

On offense Neumann passed the ball well and took advantage of the open seams and the open shots.  Ashley Pearsall (14 points and 7 assists) and Kim Hinkle (7 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals) played hard all game making things happen on both sides of the court.  Brittany Whetts played outstanding finishing with 14 points. With 1:50 on the clock Nicole Feby hit a big 3 pointer to give the Knights at 68-56 lead.  From there the Knights took control of the clock not letting Immaculata have anytime to catch up.  At the end of play the Knights finished on top 71 - 65.

 

The Knights will be heading to the first in playoffs at Misericordia on February 17, the time has yet to be announced.
