(Hackettstown, NJ) Neumann's women's basketball team traveled to Centenary College Tuesday night for their second to last game of the season. The Knights were never able to get into their groove and at times were trailing by scores in the double digits. The final score was Centenary 87, Neumann 67. The Lady Cyclones came out on fire, going on a 22 to 4 run over the first 10 minutes of play. The women saw their lead increase up to a high of 29 points before the Knights gained a shooting rhythm. Sophomore Kristen Camuso hit four shots from behind the arc and tallied 16 points which helped Centenary take a 43-26 lead into the locker room. The second period saw much of the same with the Cyclones keeping a lead of more than 15 for the majority of play. The two teams traded baskets but the Knights were not able to decrease their deficit until seven minutes left in play when the Knights went on a 9-0 run. A three by Stephanie Fanto and a lay-up by Katie Young brought the difference back to nine but senior Stephanie Roberts answered right back with a three of her own to make the score 73-61. In the closing minutes of the game the Cyclones extended their advantage back over 20 as Camuso hit her seventh three of the night with 37 seconds left on the clock. The team's shooting was held to only 24% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. Even with 47 total rebounds and double-digit contributions from Stephanie Fanto, who recorded 20 points, and Caitlin Agnew who picked up ten points, the Knights were still unable to get things swinging back in their direction. |
