ASTON, Pa. -In the PAC Coaches Preseason poll, the Neumann College Knights women's basketball team was picked to finish second in the south and fourth overall as announced Tuesday, November 13, by the conference office. The women moved up one spot in the conference poll from 2006-07, receiving 109 points, 34 behind Gwynedd-Mercy College, the defending conference champion, who received 11 of the 12 first place votes and finished first with 143 total points. Cabrini earned the final first place vote and finished with 131 points. Alvernia was third overall in the standings with 112 points just three ahead of Neumann. Women's head coach Frank Farnese said he wasn't surprised by the outcome of the voting and is excited for the team's opener on Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. He will use the results as motivation for the Knights in their quest for the program's first PAC Championship. "It's the progress of what we've been doing here over the years," stated Farnese. This program made great strides last season and I am confidant that we can carry last year's success into this season." The Knight's finished the 2006-07 regular season as the fifth overall seed in the PAC Championships and defeated No. 4 College Misericordia, 86-83 in double overtime, before falling at No.1 Gwynedd-Mercy College, 81-60, in the semifinals.
