Sept. 3, 2006

Box Score

Owings Mills, MD.- Neumann scored three goals in the first 36 minutes of play enroute to a 3-2 win at the Black Eyed Susan Tournament, hosted by first round opponent Villa Julie College, on Saturday.

"We played really well for our first time out," stated first-year head coach Sarah Madrak. "It is a good start to the 2006 season."

Neumann scored all they would need in the first 36 minutes of play with goals by Rachel Mease (Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro), Michelle Coderre (Freehold, NJ/Manalapan) and Gabriele Bendistis (Media, Pa. /Penncrest). Junior Amanda Biagi (Bellmawr, NJ/Paul VI) offered her assistance on the Knights second goal of the afternoon, giving the Knights the 3-2 win.

On the defensive end veteran Knight Chelsea Ward (Willingboro, NJ /Rancocas Valley) racked up five saves in net while newcomer Kaitlin Murphy (Elkton, Md. /Rising Sun) made her collegiate debut recording two defense saves in the shutout.

The win was the first for new head coach Sarah Madrak who took over the Knights program this summer.

The Knights are back in action on Sunday when they face Rowan University at 2 p.m. in the Championship.
