Lauren Hood led the Knights in the win.

Hood's "Trick" Ignites Knights Offense

Sept. 5, 2007

Box Score

ASTON, PA.--After starting the 2007 campaign 0-2, the Knights Field Hockey team fought through some early season adversity with a 5-1 win over Philadelphia Biblical University (0-3).  Sophomore forward Lauren Hood, (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) led the Knights early and often as she tallied three goals, earning a hat trick in the contest.  Hood said, "The ball seemed to find me today and I credit my teammates for the opportunities I had, fortunately for me I was able to cash in, but overall it was a great team effort."

It took less than six minutes for the Knights to jump out to a 2-0 lead with Hood scoring the first two goals.  The Knights then added some insurance with 24:40 left in the 1st half when Rachael DiCicco (South Dennis, NJ/Middle Township) tallied the third goal of the game.

To capture the hat trick, Hood netted her third goal 8:12 into the second half on a pass from Sophomore Megan Mazur (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville).  Less than nine minutes later Kerri Sinclair (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) padded the Knights lead on a feed from Dicicco. In addition to the great offense, Neumann's Kaitlin Murphy (Elkton, MD/Rising Sun) showcased her defensive skills by shutting down several PBU attacks at midfield.  Neumann also received an outstanding performance from goal keeper Chelsea Ward (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) who denied seven out of eight shots against. However, Philadelphia Biblical spoiled the shutout attempt with five minutes remaining on a shot from Courtney Smith (Newport News, VA/Denbigh Baptist).

Attempting to reach .500, The Knights travel to Swarthmore College on September 8, 2007 at 12:00 PM.
