Box Score

Glenside, Pa. - The Neumann field hockey team started the week off right, defeating Arcadia University, 3-1, in Glenside, Pa. for its third straight victory. The Knights move to 3-3 on the season while Arcadia (2-3) suffered their third loss of the season.

Capitalizing on Arcadia's defensive break down Neumann was able to take an early 1-0 lead in the first half. The Knights scored their second of the day in the first 1:30 of the second half and added their third and final goal three minutes later for a 3-0 advantage.

"Connections were made through the midfield to the forward line allowing our goal scorers easy opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net, stated Head Coach Sarah Madrak.

Junior forward Rachael DiCicco (South Dennis, NJ /Middle Township) got the ball rolling, scoring 8-minutes into the game. Neumann's other two goals were knocked in by senior forward Gabriele Bendistis (Media, Pa. /Penncrest), who tallied her third goal of the season and senior midfielder Andrea White (Wilmigton, De. /St. Elizabeth).

Senior goalkeeper Chelsea Ward (Willingboro, NJ /Rancocas Valley) denied every shot of the first half, earning eight saves on the match. Arcadia was able to push one past with 20 minutes to go, but its comeback attempt ended there.

This Thursday, Neumann will travel to Philadelphia University for a 4:00 p.m. start.
