In a battle of the Knights, Neumann College hosted Arcadia University in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match up at the Bruder Field in field hockey action this afternoon. In a shut out victory, Neumann defeated Arcadia 2-0 to increase their conference winning record to 1-1.

 

Neumann College opened the scoring with 3:37 left in the first half off a rebound goal by Abi Bilski. Rachel Mease delivered a hard shot towards goalkeeper Rachel Palis who kicked out a rebound right to Abi Bilski. Palis was then replaced by back up goalkeeper Maggie LoCasale shortly after.

 

Both teams of Knights battled through the second half to keep the game close at 1-0 until late in the second half when Rachel Mease added to their lead. The second goal was assisted by Michelle Coderre whom created numerous offensive chances for the Knights all game.

 

Neumann received solid goalkeeping from Chelsea Ward who recorded the shut out with five key saves.

 

Next up, Neumann College will travel to Chester, Pennsylvania this Thursday for a non-conference match up against Widener University.
