Sept. 22, 2006

Box Score

Chester, PA - After having success earlier in the week, the Neumann Knights field hockey team couldn't get the ball in the net against Widener University. Neumann lost 5-1 to the Pioneers on Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

Widener started shooting early on, out shooting the Bears 15 to one in the first half. Widener's Erica Rose scored the first goal eight minutes into the game. The Pioneers' Colleen Guille connected for their second score, followed by Jaime Carr's first of two goals in the afternoon match up, making it a 3-0 game going into half time.

In the first minute and a half of the second stanza Widener's Missy Pappas scored giving the hosts a 4-0 lead. Twelve minute later, Carr scored again to go up 5-0.

The Knights' lone goal was scored by Megan Mazur (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville) with thirty-two seconds left in the game.

Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Katie Kucherack (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) recorded a career-high, 12 saves, during the game.

The Knights return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 23 to face PAC rival Alvernia College. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. at Bruder Field.
