Aston, Pa. - The Knights of Neumann College took on of the Lady Rams of Philadelphia University, a Division-II team, on Neumann's home field Monday afternoon at 4:00p.m.

The first half resulted in several scoring chances at both ends; however neither team could capitalize to gain the lead.

Heading into the second half, intensity picked up between both teams, but both teams still could not put one past either goalkeeper.  The game ran into two further periods, resulting into a tiring 4 periods of competitive game.

The peak of excitement occurred after 100 minutes of play, when both teams took the field to compete in a shoot out.  The Knights' Abi Bilski shot first, but her shot went wide.  The Lady Rams took the field next, when Allisin Wagner tried to put one past the Kucheruck, however her shot was denied.  Rachel Mease stepped up next for the Knights, with a low shot, but goal keeper Jessica Snyder stopped the shot with no problems.  The Lady Rams' Alyson Pires was the first to break the ice when she put one past Kucheruck, giving the Lady Rams a lead.  Neumann's Ashlee Hodge quickly answered back with the first goal for the Knights.  Hodge's goal did not intimidate Philadelphia's Laura Dupler, who scored the second goal in the shootout for the Lady Rams.  With high pressure placed on the Knights, Hodge stepped up with her second goal and kept the Knights alive.  Karen Bloomfield shot one wide for Philadelphia and Neumann's Biagi's high shot was blocked.  The Lady Rams' Brooke Woodland's attempt was not successful when her shot hit the post, ending the first series of penalty strokes with both teams tied.

The second series of strokes began with Philadelphia's Allisin Wagner, whose shot was saved, giving the Knights further hope.  Neumann's Biagi's attempt was also saved, and the Lady Ram's Alyson Pires also could not capitalize.   Finally, Neumann's Rachel Mease put one past the Lady Rams.  Following her shot was Philadelphia's Laura Dupler, but she was blocked on her attempt, and subsequently, Bilski was up for the Knights but her shot was also blocked.  Karen Bloomfield for the Lady Rams took the field next, but the Knights' Kucheruck stepped up and kept the Knights' spirits high.  The last shot of the shootout was Neumann's Ashlee Hodge.  Under pressure again, Hodge put one past Snyder, winning the game for the Knights 1-0.

Today's game was Neumann goalkeeper Katie Kucheruck's first win this season.

The Knights will travel to Gwynedd- Mercy College Wednesday, September 27 at 4:00p.m.for a conference match up against the PAC rival.
