Baltimore, Md. - The Neumann field hockey team (6-4, 4-0) defeated the College of Notre Dame (2-6, 2-3), 5-0, to remain undefeated in the PAC conference. "This is a great start for us, stated Head Coach Sarah Madrak after the game. "These women are playing well as a team and this is really great for all involved." The Knights scored their first goal 1:08 seconds into the game. Andrea White (Wilmigton, De. /St. Elizabeth) accepted a pass from teammate Amanda Biagi (Bellmawr, NJ /Paul VI) for the 1-0 lead. Neumann went up 2-0, 14-minutes later on a successful corner that was taken by Kerri Sinclair (Chadds Ford, Pa. /Unionville) and passed to Megan Mazur (Parlin, NJ /Sayreville) who hit the back of the net for her first goal of the season. The Knights entered the second half with a 2-0 lead and wasted no time tacking on the points. Neumann's Lauren Hood (Norristown, Pa. /Kennedy-Kenrick) hit the target 38-seconds into the second half and Rachael DiCicco (South Dennis, NJ /Middle Township) added a fourth off a penalty corner less than 5-minutes later. Lindsey Graham (Middletown, De. /Caravel Academy) scored the fifth and final goal of the game, her first of the season, in the 53rd minute of play, sending an unassisted shot pass College of Notre Dame's goalkeeper Jessica Maier. Helping the Knights complete the shutout was Neumann's defense that collectively prevented a shot on net by the Gators. Neumann will return to action on Saturday, September 29, when they will host Alvernia College in a Homecoming event at 1:00 p.m. |
