The #6 Neumann Knights defeated #3 The Knights started off strong scoring the first and only goal needed to keep their season going in the 25th minute of the game. Freshman Rachael DiCicco scored after being set up by senior Brandy McCreary who was awarded a penalty corner just prior to the goal. McCreary's pass allowed DiCicco to slap the ball past Wesley's LeAnne Hyslop for the 1-0 win. DiCicco's goal was only her second of the season and her first game winning goal of her colligate career. "The team really deserves this, stated Head Coach Carol Digirolamo. The girls had a rough start in the beginning of the season and they fought hard to keep focus. This is the first time in four years that Neumann has made it to the playoffs and never before has Neumann's field hockey team made it to the semifinals. This is really a great accomplishment not just for us, but for all our alumni and our fans." We are looking forward to Tuesday. Though the Knights were out shot 17-7 and allowed Wesley to have an 8-1 advantage on corners, the Knights proved that it is quality not quantity that will keep your season going. Neumann heads to |
