Nov. 3, 2007

BOX SCORE

Aston, Pa. - The Neumann College women's hockey team went head-to-head with No. 1 Plattsburgh State and came out on the losing end of a 3-0 score Friday, Nov. 2 at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh, NY. Danielle Beattie made 18 saves in the shutout, while Megan DiJulio scored the game-winning goal in the first period. Senior Teresa White made 38 saves in a losing effort. Neumann is now 1-2-0 while the Cardinals are 1-0.

Plattsburgh held the edge for the first period, outshooting the Knights by a 14-8 margin, but White stayed strong between the pipes, turning away all but two of Plattsburgh's chances.

Plattsburgh came out strong in the second period, peppering White with 17 shots but was unable to get the puck past the Salem, Oregon native.

The Cardinals padded their lead at 9:20 of the third, when Danielle Blanchard put home a shorthanded goal to make the score 3-0.

Neumann went 0-for-5 on the power play, while holding Plattsburgh to a 0-for-6 margin. Despite the offensive efforts of Samantha May and Carolyn Fauteux, who combined for nine of Neumann's 18 shots, the Cardinals denied Neumann of any scoring opportunities.

The Knights and the Cardinals will square off again Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
