Knights Dominate Play in a 2-0 Win over SUNY Oswego

Nov. 12, 2006

OSWEGO, NY- The Neumann Knights (1-2-0) recorded a 2-0 win in the first game of their two-game road trip against the SUNY Oswego Lakers (3-2-1).  The Knights dominated play throughout the afternoon event.

The first period favored the Knights, allowing Neumann to out shoot SUNY Oswego 19-8.  However, it was not until the second period of the game that the Knights gained the lead on the Lakers.  A the 12-minute mark Neumann's Carolyn Fauteux (Aurora, ON) opened up the scoring when she capitalized on a play, set up by teammates Jenelle Marier (Sudbury, ONT) and Carly Fitzsimmons (Capreol, ONT), beating out Oswego goaltender Hilary Hitchman for the one goal lead.

The third period demonstrated Neumann's grittiest period of play. The Knights dominated both ends of the ice.  Neumann Knight Robyn Armstrong (Sudbury, ON) allowed her team to gain a two-goal lead on the Lakers, when she put one past Hilary Hitchman on the power play goal at 11:34.  Armstrong's goal concluded the scoring for the game, resulting in a 2-0 win in favor of the Neumann Knights.  Teresa White (Salem, Or.) ended the night with a shutout, facing a total of 24 saves.  The Knights out-shot the Lakers 39-24 in the game and won a total of 31 face-offs on the night.
