Armstrong, Knights Nip Lakers, 4-3

Dec. 2, 2007

BOX SCORE

Aston, Pa.- Robyn Armstrong had the game winning goal to help the Neumann Knights beat the SUNY Oswego Lakers  4-3 on Saturday night at Ice Works Quad Arena.

Samantha May, Kristin Gauthier, and Jenelle Marier scored for the Knights, and Teresa White had 21 saves on the night in net.

"The girls came to play, 63 shots proves their determination. Oswego's goalie played great, we need to bring the same intensity tomorrow." Head Coach Matt Kennedy said.

The Lakers started the scoring 15:18 into the first period when Emily Grippin put in a short handed goal with an assist from Krista Pattemore.

The Knight then tied the score late in the first period when Carly Fitzsimmons provided a nice pass to Sam May who finished tying the score at 1-1.

Oswego regained the lead when Mackenize May slid the puck past the White to take the 2-1 lead.  The Knights would answer right back when Kristin Gauthier took a shot and beat the Oswego goaltender Hilary Hitchman tying the score at 2-2.

Jenelle Marier scored midway through the second period as Neumann took a 3-2 lead on the power play.  The Lakers answered when Mackenize May scored her second of the night on a power play tying the score at 3-3.

Then on another power play in the third period, Robyn Armstrong struck a laser past the Lakers goaltender putting the Knights on top 6:24 into the period taking a 4-3 lead.  At that point the Knights defense took over and that is all they needed as they went on to win it 4-3.
