Schroder Nets Two, Knights Defeat Oswego, 5-1

Dec. 2, 2007

BOX SCORE

Aston, Pa. - The Knights posted a 5-1 victory over Oswego State at Ice Works Quad Arena Sunday.  Jessica Schroeder provided two great goals and one assist for the Knights who completed a weekend sweep of the Lakers this afternoon.

Carolyn Fauteux, Samantha May, and Vicki Scott also scored for Neumann.  Mel Brunet recorded her first collegiate win stopping 30 shots from the Lakers.

"We played hard for 120 minutes this weekend and when you play hard you get results" stated Head Coach Matt Kennedy.

The Knights struck first with a power play goal from Captain Carolyn Fauteux early in the second period with assists from Robyn Armstrong and Jessica Schroeder.  The Knights then doubled their lead late in the second period when Sam May scored her forth goal of the year giving the Knights a 2-0 advantage after two.

The Knights then took a three goal lead when Jessica Schroeder got the puck in neutral ice and skated past the Lakers defense and made the most of the opportunity, giving the Knights a 3-0 lead.

Oswego did not give up as Jenna Kirkwood knocked home a goal at 9:27 in the third period off an assist from Stephanie Esposito.

That is the closest the Lakers would get as Jessica Schroeder netted a fourth for the Knights with excellent puck handling skills, making it a 4-1 game.

Vicki Scott provided a power play goal to make it a 5-1 hockey game and that is how the day would end.

The Knights look to continue their winning ways next Friday, December 7 at SUNY Cortland. The puck is set to drop at 2:00 p.m.
