Team Leader in Points (26)
 
Neumann earns #4 seed in ECAC West Conference Playoffs

The Neumann College woman's ice hockey team earned the 4th seed in the ECAC West Conference playoffs. After a great regular season of play, with an overall record of 10-12-1 and 8-6-0 in the conference, the Knights earned 16 points to finish 4th behind Plattsburgh.

 

This will be the fourth year in a row that the women's team has made it into the ECAC West Conference playoffs however, the Knights have never made it out of the first round of the event. 

 

The Knights are led by Carly Fitzsimmons who leads the team in goals with 16 and in points (26) going into this high intense playoff atmosphere.  She is set up on the same line by team assistant captain Jenelle Marier who leads the team in assists with 15. 

 

The Knights will be traveling to Plattsburgh, New York on Saturday, March 3rd to take on the #1 seed of the tournament, Plattsburgh State, at 1:00 pm.  This game is an ECAC West semi-final conference match-up. The winner will advance to the Championship on Sunday March 4th, at 2:00 p.m.

 

The Knights opened the regular season against the tournament host who defeated the Knights in a weekend sweep (6-1)-(4-0).  After a playing a 23 game schedule, the Knights have developed team leadership and team integrity and our looking for revenge.

 

Matt Kennedy stated, "I believe this team has come along way since our last meeting with the Cardinals.  We have strong leadership and a strong desire to win.  This weekend could be anybody's game."

 

The ECAC West Playoff game is set for March 3rd at Plattsburgh.  Drop of the puck is set for 1:00pm.
