Madison, NJ- The Neumann College Women's Lacrosse team traveled up the New Jersey Turnpike to open up their regular season against ECAC South Champions, the Devils of Farleigh Dickinson University, Florham campus. The Knights were faced with the relentless offensive prowess of the Devils who opened up scoring just fourteen seconds into play. The Knights defense was faced with countless drives to goal and was quickly pushed back on their heels. The score was seven to zero until the Neumann squad was able to put together a scoring play of their own. Gabby D'Ambrosio cut around the crease and received a quick-stick pass from Emly Kazaba 11 minutes into the half. D'Ambrosio tallied two more solo goals on the half to make the score 14-3.
In the second half, Caitlin O'Shea stood tall in the net and made some outstanding plays in the crease. In the second half, she and the defense held the Devils to just five goals. With her help, the Knights tried to keep pace with the Devils and dig out of their hole but were held to only three goals on the competition. Final score Devils 19, Knights 3.
On the loss, Neumann's head coach, Sarah Kurpel stated, "I think we learned a lot today. Although the score does not reflect all of the good things that we did, it does show us where we need to be. We'll see many more teams like FDU this season and we're eager to rise to the occasion."
The Knights are back in action on Tuesday, March 3rd when they travel to West Palm Beach Florida to play Whittenburg University at 9am.
