Aston, PA-Neumann out shot the Greyhounds of Moravian College 29-16 marking their seventh consecutive win of the 2006 season this afternoon in women's lacrosse action.
In the 19-7 triumph junior Michelle Coderre recorded her seventh consecutive multiple scoring game, ending the afternoon's non-conference match up with six goals and three assists for the Knights. Teammate Kolleen Kitzinger also found the net to be an easy target this afternoon, scoring five goals and five assists.
Neumann Knight Samantha Lafferty opened the scoring on this sunny afternoon putting her first of four goals in the back of the net at 28:02. Amanda Biagi helped her team take the 2-0 lead when she incepted a pass, breaking up a potential Greyhound clear, which was eventually passed off to Coderre for her first goal of the day.
Moravian answered back when Lindsey Lustrino scored an unassisted goal with 24:34 on the clock. However, Neumann countered winning the draw and taking the ball down field where Biagi was able to connect with freshman Erin O'Donnell for the 3-1 lead. The Knights scored two more before being halted once again by Moravian's Jess Cordani who brought the differential back to three at 18:29.
Kerri Sinclair caused a turnover at the 18 minute mark which led to Neumann's 6th of the day when Kitzinger combined with Coderre at 17:48. The two teams battled hard for the remained of the half but it was the Knights who came out on top 9-5 as time ran down in the first half.
Neumann opened the second half with an 8-goal run, putting the game out of their visitors' reach, despite a two-goal effort by the Greyhounds in the second half.
Neumann earned the edge in groundballs, 42-36, but Moravian won more draws, 15-12, including 8-4 in the second half. Neumann was successful on 16 of its 19 clear attempts, while Moravian cleared the ball 6 times on 11 attempts.
