Aston, PA- Neumann College's women's lacrosse team hosted Farmingdale Sate University for a Thursday afternoon game at Bruder fields. The Knights were able to overcome a four goal deficit at the end of the second half for the come from behind win in the non-conference match-up. Neumann jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first eight minutes of play with the help from Gabby D'Ambrosio (Mount Laurel, NJ/Holy Crosse) and Colleen Finnegan (Pear River, NY/Pearl River.) D'Ambrosio and Finnegan scored one more each in the half along with a goal from junior Emily Kazaba (Claymont, DE/Brandywine) The Rams found relief at the half after successfully chipping away at the Knights' lead giving them an 8-6 lead. Neumann had their work cut out for them as Farmingdale's relentless offense pushed the Rams ahead of the Knights by a score of 8-12 with 12 minutes left to play. D'Ambrosio got things moving again for the Knights with back-to-back goals putting the team within two. The Rams tried to stifle the Knights' momentum with a time-out after Dominique Thompson (Wayne, PA/Conestoga) charged down the field and snuck the ball passed Farmingdale goal tender Janine Foreman for the team's third unanswered goal. An inspired Neumann offense kept their eyes on the prize when D'Ambrosio tied the score for Neumann. Kerri Sinclair's top-shelf goal after storming around the crease would give the Knights the lead of the game with seven minutes to play. The Knights played cat and mouse with a tired Ram team until the clock wound down giving Neumann the win.
The win puts Neumann at 5-7 overall. Senior goal keeper Caitlin O'Shea (Springfield, PA/Springfield) tallied 21 save on the win. Neumann will travel to Allentown, PA on Saturday, April 19th to challenge Cedar Crest College for a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match at 12:00 p.m. |
